Following ESmotorsport, GCK Motorsport, Kristoffersson Motorsport (KMS) and ALL-INKL.COM Muennich Motorsport, Hansen Motorsport has now officially joined the electric era of the World Rallycross Championship.
The Swedish world champion team announced its “multi-year” commitment to the RX1e category of the World Rallycross Championship on Thursday afternoon. No exact years were given in the announcement.
The family team, with Rallycross legend Kenneth Hansen as team principal and brothers Kevin and Timmy Hansen as drivers, will build two cars based on the Peugeot 208, according to the statement. The Peugeot 208 has previously been used as the platform for Hansen Motorsport’s internal combustion vehicles.
Paired will be the basic Peugeot 208 with the unified powertain from Austrian company Kreisel Electric, which produces 500kw – equivalent to about 680hp.
Hansen Motorsport is also the first team in the World Rallycross Championship to receive the FIA’s three-star environmental certification.
The cars, unveiled today in their inaugural livery, are currently being designed and developed at Hansen Motorsport’s workshop in Götene. The final racing livery will be unveiled before the start of the season.
